I'd prefer the kick in the door style--the quicker we get going, the less likely a game dies--and we get to see something past level 1.

As for kicking the door or the tavern . . . any chance we can do both? Maybe by starting the dungeon and remembering flashbacks to the tavern/wherever/whatever drew everyone together?
