3E Half-Celestaial Prestige Clsss?

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
Akin to the 3.5 Dragon Disciple is to the Half-Dragon I am looking for similar for the half-celestial.

I know there is the Aasimar/Half-Celestial transitional class in the Savage Progressions: Transitional Classes (which I have printed out), but I am looking for a or five level prestige class that will let anyone ascend to half-celestial status. Is there such a thing?

I made a five level class that transforms a character into a minor genie. I'll see if I can post it to the wiki later. It should not be too difficult to adapt it to half-celestial.

Well, if you want 'official' and 4-5 levels, you're probably best off sticking with that Savage Progressions template class, with a prerequisite of 'gaining a level of Aasimar' first (so, package off all the abilities of the Aasimar into a 1-level 'template class', more or less, and have that as a pre-req.) There's 4 levels, right there.

None of those levels would grant hit points, BAB, skill points, spellcasting, etc. (of course), and the first level isn't strictly speaking 'official', but it's about the closest I've come across (and yeah, I did have a bit of a look.)

Personally, I think the LA is a bit off anyway (i.e., too high), for most monsters and templates - and Half Celestial is no exception. A pretty good frame of reference is that found in the appendix (v5, and soon v6) for the Immortal's Handbook, courtesy of Upper Krust on these boards. That guide is also found (not sure if it's exactly the same though. . .?) in Grim Tales, from Bad Axe Games.

And to follow on a little more tangentially again. . . I prefer racial classes over any amount of LA, every time.

Anger of Angels has a Half-Celestial "Template Class" thats somewhat between a Prestige Class and Savage Species style monster class. Characters basically aquire the half-celestial template over time, trading some of the boons of it for a level. No HD and no skill points balance out a lot of good stuff. Its by Sean K Reynolds.

Indeed! A neater solution, though it works out very much the same of course. It's even by the same guy.

It's been a while since I used that book. . . still one of my prized d20 possessions, however. :)

One could also fiddle with a template until it's balanced for ECL-0 and gets DM approval, then aquire it over the course of a few levels. This way, no universally balanced template or class is needed, but one can tailor one to the specific campaign, which may make balancing easier.
