3rd Edition Classic Dungeon Crawl

[tiptoe] sniff sniff

Tiptoe will examine the door first, checking the material it is made from and searching for any keyholes to peek through. He'll sniff at any of the air that comes out from the door...
As long as it's not sulfuric...

"It probably knows we're here..." Tiptoe says, shrugging "but nothing else to do."

If the remainder of the party wants to open the door, Tiptoe will ready his weapon and crouch to a sprinting/springing position.

[Please post ANYTHING if you are still with us... this will get interesting, if you're losing interest, but we need for all of you to post. Thanks!]

Tiptoe, not wanting to be the one to open the door, waits for one of the others to do so. The sound of running water to the north, and the red glow from the beetles to the south set the mood nicely. This may get bloody.

THere is no sulfuric smell.

Dagart readies his hammer and stands next to Tiptoe, ready to jump in front of whatever comes out the door. He looks at the smaller dwarf for a moment, then notices that the little smelly one isn't about to perform any acts of bravery. Gripping his hammer tighter in his stubby fingers, he grits his teeth and pushes the door open.

Pushing the door open Dagart feels some resistance at first until it gives... and an alarm in the distance sounds. In front of the big dwarf stands a large wolf with an look of intelegence that startles the dwarf. Upon hearing the alarm, whe beast almost smiles, crouching down to attack!

[I'll set up the encounter shortly. If you want to roll your inicitive and write your first actions, please do. Dagart is in front, followed closely by Tiptoe and his rats. The other two are behind them, but you can move through the spaces of allies without any issue if you want to jump ahead.]

Initiative: 19 + 3 = 22 (http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=Tiptoe#59528)

[Assuming Tiptoe goes first...]

NOTE: I didn't roll initiative for the rats, but I will if you like.

Tiptoe faces the wolf, growling at it himself. Shaking his head as the alarm rings
Too much noise.
Used to hunting in packs, he'll move to the side to make room for everyone to enter the room, sidestepping and keeping his shortspear pointed at the wolf throughout.
We won't have much time with this alarm... but we can't risk being reckless, either
Baring his teeth, Tiptoe will attack if the wolf is in range, but only if he can do so and leave room for the rest of the party. Otherwise, he'll move to the back and prepare a Cure Light Wounds spell.

(If you'd like, I'll move/attack for myself when you set it up).

I'm on initiative 14:
http://krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=Dagart#59533

If the monster is blocking the door and it looks like he can't get through, Dagart will just smack the thing in the face. If it looks like there's room to get through, he'll try to manuever around to one side of the creature, but only if he can do so without getting smacked. Either way, he'll give the thing a good smack on the noggin.

Attack: Hits AC 18

for 5 damage

He steps to the side of the wolf, and smacks the creature with his warhammer. Ther's a sharp CRACK as it hits the things skull.
