can anyone recommend any good 3rd party wizard books? I was looking for a bunch of new spells to add to my campaign? I guess I could wait for the Complete Wizard/Sorcerer.

I don't think there is going to be a Complete Wizard/Sorcerer book, since Complete Warrior covers magic also...just not as a main focus.

That said, you could try Sword & Sorcery Studios Relics & Rituals books. There are two in the series so far, and both are excellent. The spells there have the campaign-specific flavor text and the descriptions kept nicely separate.

Another good buy would be the complete Eldritch Might series, which is due to be released in print soon (all in 3.5E format, no less). This three-volume series has many new spells, including variant bard and ranger classes, a new type of magic specifically for bards, magical locations, new cretures, etc. I'd strongly recommend it!

Gee Nightfall, I thought you felt it was unimportant for SSS to update their works to 3.5. :D

Anyway, there's always the Quintessential Wizard. For a whiole slew of new spells though the Relics and Rituals books cannot be beat - though until R&R III comes out you may have to be careful with some of the entries. They were unbalanced in 3.0, more so in 3.5, and we can only hope R&R III adresses this.

The community roughly agrees on which spells are problematic - though not always.

Spells and Spellcraft is nice, but it has this whole huge section on familairs that never tells you how to apply it to beginning familiars - or what requirements are needed to take any of the many sample familiars. Frustrating though not directly connected to spells. FFG's work tends to be like that - half done or not fully researched.

Don't think I QUITE said that. I just had my doubts they were going to do it. Now I know they are. So it's all good. :p ;)

get the Malhavoc press Books of Eldritch Might 1,2 and 3 (or wait till they are rereleased for 3.5 as one big uber book) I agree with the quint wizard.

I picked up Arcane Atrife and Legend & lairs school of Evocation too add some more bang for my wizard. but the spells have to be approved by my DM before I can use them. seems fair to me tho. while they are both great books and Arcane Strife has some really cool but also some really funny spells. But Some spells in both book seems to be too powerful or too weak.

If you don't mind PDF products, I find 101 Spell Components and 101 Spellbooks by PhilipJReed.com to be very nice supplements, both available cheap.

The books mentioned above certainly seem to be the best out there.

Here are a few more to consider:

Magic - AEG (provides details on several 'types' of magic, so only part of the book may apply to you)

Path of Magic - FFG

Relics & Rituals 1
BOEM I & II
Bastion's Spells & Magic
Quintessential Wizard - Some classes are a bit strong, but the rules for Wizards staffs are what wizards staffs should be. Lots of other cool stuff.
Quint sorcerer makes sorcerers very flavorful.

FFG's Spells & Spellcraft, sorta (solid, but not as intriguing as the above, I think).

R&R 2 is better I feel.

I don't. ;)

R&R1 has the full blown ritual rules. The prestige classes are better written in #2, but they are more scarred lands specific too.

Path of Magic has some good stuff in it, but some of the best stuff is not for wizards. I think it has the best (i.e., interesting yet look balanced enough I would allow them) feats for arcane spellcasters of almost any of the mentioned book, and (not too relevant to this thread) I love the variant bardic performance styles, which goes a long way to fix the all-too-pidgeonholed bard.

True. But some of the true rituals in 2 are more fun if you ask me. Plus the fact they have magic tomes, rules for scion feats and of course Cabalist feats. I will agree though that the other stuff might be a little too specific.

Just have to see what R&R3 looks like.
