3rd party d20 Wizard books

Spells and Spellcraft is nice, but it has this whole huge section on familairs that never tells you how to apply it to beginning familiars - or what requirements are needed to take any of the many sample familiars. Frustrating though not directly connected to spells. FFG's work tends to be like that - half done or not fully researched.
In this case, I believe it was the user who didn't fully research. :) At the beginning of the familiar section it explains the Prerequisites that must be met to have a familiar of a certain monster type. These apply across the board to all of the sample familiars, and that's all you need!

I liked The Quintessential Wizard by Mongoose. I have found the library rules particularly useful in my games (and not just for wizards).

The Auld Grump

i bought Green Ronin's pocket guides for Arcane and Divine casters back before the revision.

i guess they are still useful, but you may have to tweak for the changes due to the revision.

I am using the grimoires instead of the revisions, except for the rare "true offenders" (haste, harm cheif among them.)
