4 new "base" classes?

The Blackguard may still come. They have said, I believe, there will be 6 new classes, 4 of which they gave the names to. Plus, they also said none of them are what you think

I think the Summoner sounds like an awful cool bad guy

Erik Mona dropped by on my blog and had the following to say:

Erik Mona said:
The cavalier will have a couple of mount-related bennies, but they will NOT be the main point of the class. The main point of the class will be to have a martial class with a more “social” class skill list, ally-boosting “berate” powers, and most likely some cool abilities tied to one of several “allegiances” you can choose from. All will be revealed in the Open Playtest (and in truth we’re still developing the class), but we’re well aware that horses don’t fit in dungeons and make a totally lame anchor for an adventuring class.

There’s also a LOT more to the oracle than predicting the future. Indeed, that’s going to end up a relatively minor aspect of the class, which will be a “spontaneous” divine caster. We’re really excited about this class.

When we get back from Gen Con we’ll post short summaries of our thoughts so far on these classes, so you can tell what we’re shooting for. The names suggest the conceptual niche, but it’s really important that these new classes have a _mechanical_ niche as well, and we’ve come up with some really exciting ideas I think are going to blow people’s minds.

The Oracle not the new Favoured Soul?

As long as its not a favoured soul then.

Its just that it was a sorceror variant for the cleric and they gave it loads of feats it didn't need, then there's the wizard which has bonus feats and the sorceror which was stripped bare almost as if someone was afraid they'd created something better than the wizard...

Sorry had to say it just in case.

I'm hoping they make the four classes new ones, not rehashes of old ones - and it looks like they're going to.

Andreas - well, you've got at least one customer here who'll buy it ;p

Sad to say, Paizo stopped communicating with us with regards to us doing the Psionics ruleset for them. Considering this, we are preliminarily working on releasing our own Psionic Player's Handbook.

Are you sure they just haven't been really busy? I'm not trying to patronizing at all.. But they did just send 900 + pages to the printers within a relatively short period.

Give it another try now that GenCon is over. With their own production schedule of no more than 3-4 rulebooks a year..with one of them always being a monster book...

1.)GameMastery Guide
2.) Bestiary 2
3.)This is unnamed Players Book..

I don't see a psionics book on the table for 2010. That leaves the field pretty open, whether you work directly with them or not.

Hey, wonder if it'll be like the old Hackmaster Cavalier. A knight with stringent allignment requirements, but he had the ability to very loosely justify things.

"This city has a reputation for thieves and scoundrels! I killed that old woman because it LOOKED like she might be casting an offensive spell, silently, and stilled."

Sad to say, Paizo has been busier than a boot in an ass-kicking contest over the course of the last year, and any drop-off in discussion about a secondary system that started more than a year before the final rules were in place should not necessarily be interpreted as lack of interest on our part.
