$40 Shopping Spree

Cobblestone

First Post
My gaming group gave me a $40 gift certificate to our LFGS (The Source comics and games in St. Paul, MN) as a Christmas present (yeah, they're a little slow, but it's the thought that counts!). Anyway, we're in the middle of a Big 3 (PHB, DMG, MM) only 3.5 Birthright campaign, so nothing is jumping out at me as an immediate must-have.

So here's my question. I have $40 to spend. What do I spend it on? What books or supplements or game aids (3rd party or whatever) provide the most value? Do I just go in and buy $40 worth of dice?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Peace,

C-Stone

I also suggest waiting for the new edition...

Even though I am not planning on moving into the new edition, I must game when I can... and if I am forced to game with the new edition (due to lack of other options), then at least I would have a copy of new PHB.

Which is a very good point. What about Keep on the Border-err Shadowfell? It's supposed to have quick-start rules in it, right? Are they going to be similar enough to the rule books to give a good understanding of 4e?

Thanks for the quick replies.

Hell, yeah - Ninja Gaiden 2 is coming out for the XBox 360 in Europe that day! Man, that's gonna be sweet.

I'd go with edition-proof products like minis, battlemats/tiles, and other fun accessories.
Yeah, this. Even if you are going to do the 4e thing. Why wait, when you can spend money now, that's what I always say. To myself, internally.

Evidently, anyhow. :o

I'd go with KotS if it's in stock. It'll be an interesting introduction to the new rules, you can use it almost immediately, and your gaming group can check out the new-shiney :D

I'd recommend some Paizo modules, myself. See which ones have stuff you can yoink for your campaign. It's the gift of time and a stylin' set piece!
