4CTF question: Mighty Lifting and Bull Rush

Forrester

First Post
Question -- does the effective strength bonus a character gets from Mighty Lifting give him a bonus to his Bull Rushes?

It seems as though it "officially" doesn't, but that it might make sense if it did. What do you think?

On a related note, the 4CTF book has a little scenario where an Andromedan (Merlyn) does a Bull Rush against a tank. The tank doesn't get any strength bonus except +8 for being Huge.

Is that right? Wouldn't a tank have SOME sort of effective strength? It is, after all, a tank.

Well, the very same Andromedan example that you mention lets the sample character use the Mighty Lifting power to increase his effective strength for the bull rush. So yes, it should count.

You have a point about the tank needing to get another bonus, though. Of course, by the core rules, if I were wrestling with a hill giant, and the hill giant that rolls a natural 1 (final result 10) and I roll a natural 20 (final result 20), I could supposedly shove that 1 ton critter back ten feet. I think it's more a flaw in the core rules than in these extra rules, but then again, I didn't realize it. I suggest, if nothing else, just letting the inanimate objects take 10 on their opposed strength checks. They'll never fumble that way.
