does anyone know if you'll still be able to buy 4e books once DDN comes out. And i don't mean from other players i mean from stores and Amazon. Will wizards still print them?

I can't imagine that WotC will still print 4e books when DDN has been published. But neither will they put fire to their warhouses. Expect 4e books to be available from shops for quite some time after day X.

I highly doubt it. There are already 4e books that have gone out of print and WotC hasn't reprinted them and with 5e coming, probably won't. Aside from the original PHB1, DMG1, and MM1, I'm pretty sure everything prior to 2011 is out of print, except for Essentials related books.

Some of those books probably still have enough copies floating in circulation and in distributor warehouses that they will show up on shelves for another year or so, but when they are gone, they are gone.

If you like 4e, I'd grab them now.

However, WotC has said they will keep DDI's 4e tools available even after 5e comes out, so thats cool. And if I was WotC I would make my entire back catalog of books for all editions available for print on demand, or PDF sales. I mean, not everyone will like 5e, and even if you do sometimes its fun to play prior editions. I play 4e and Pathfinder and likely won't be dropping either one for 5e. I will just add 5e to the mix. :)

I would be fairly shocked if WotC reprint any of the 4e books after 5e is released (with the possible exception of the core rulebooks, if they're reprinting the CRs of previous editions).

However, I would expect eBay to remain a useful source of books for a long time to come - there's not exactly a shortage of 3e books out there. However, there may be issues getting hold of certain in-demand titles (with the PHB being a likely candidate).

The chapters (Canadian big box bookstore) I go to removed all thier rpg books period, including 4e, soon after 5e was announced, leaving only board games like conquest of Nerth and Lengend of Dizzt and the red box. So I think your stuck with buying it online.

From your lips (or fingers) to WotC's ears (or eyes).:D

You'd think with such a large and widespread clamoring for this they'd have "seen the light" by now, but...:erm:
