In the General Discussion forum, there's a thread about a guy whose DM hit him with a charm person spell and ruled that it was essentially domination. That got me to thinking... 4E has the "dominated" status, but all charm-type powers are ad hoc effects without a unifying mechanic.
Charm effects are common enough in myth and fantasy fiction (and previous editions) that I think it'd be worth making a single condition for them. If you were going to create a "charmed" condition in 4E, how would it work?
Here's my idea:
Charmed: You cannot target the source of this effect with attacks and you treat that creature as an ally. At the start of your turn, the source can ask you to perform a single action on your turn. You suffer a -2 penalty on all attack rolls, skill checks, and ability checks until you attempt the requested action; the source asks for a different action; the action becomes impossible for you; or the charmed condition ends.
