I'm not. Guess I should be? How do I do it?I was initially very anti 4th edition and only learned it because I wanted to participate in the beginning of L4W. I have enjoyed L4W immensly so far - if you are not signed up why not!![]()

That sounds really cool! So it's just like a communal pool of characters that any DM can dip into for just one adventrure at a time. And, I guess, if the players agreed, maybe more than that? So, basically, then, L4W is like a microcosm of all of ENWorld, isn't it? Also reminds me of the Prancing Unicorn from Thieves' World.Well if you are interested head over and take a look at the L4W forums. Then you make a 1st level 25 point buy character using the templates that I used for this version of Brudd - Future Brudd as he has been dubbed in L4W.

Once you are done you can start playing, though your character still needs to be approved by two of the character judges - one of whom is yours truly and I think Ata volunteered recently to - before you can earn XP. In practice you will never not be able to gain XP approvals have been swift and DM simply withold until you are approved.
To get into an adventure you enter the Hanged Man, L4Ws tavern announce yourself and when a DM comes along recruiting you sign up. We are actively trying to recruit DMs and there should always be a ready supply of mini adventures for when there is no longer term fare available.
The nice thing is your character levels gain wealth and is transferable between adventures. DM ditched, it happens sadly, you don't have to loose your favorite character you simply head back to the tavern, or hopefully the judge of the adventure takes over. I am actually DMing a game which I was originally the judge for.
The Ebon Mirror - Dark Marks, which is designed to be a campaign and features L4Ws only 2nd level characters currently.
Can new players still get in on LEW, too?Thats the basic idea, I run two games on there. The Ebon Mirror - Dark Marks, which is designed to be a campaign and features L4Ws only 2nd level characters currently, and The Closed Eye which I took over from another DM - and which is also rather likely to extend to campaign status if a rather shorter one than The Ebon Mirror.
There is also LEW which is the longer running 3.5 equivilent which shows what a living world can become, it has been going for years and has characters in double digits now. L4Ws advancement is likely to be significantly faster due to various factors fyi.
Definetly, though you will almost certainly have to be more patient waiting for an adventure. LEW is the only reason I am still doing PBP, after the umpteeth game fell by the wayside on the undead forums (non-living) LEW kept me coming back for more.
LEW does seem to be undergoing something of a resurgence though with many of its stalwarts returning from the wilderness of the mega adventure - a series of adventures run at the same time by the same DM with an overarching plot which fizzled when said DM slowed and then stopped posting.
I am just about to run an adventure for LEWs highest level PCs which should be very interesting.
On a different note I guess I should change Brudd's Boots of the fencing Master to horse shoes of the fencing master, lol.
