Any info on how these will be handled in 4E?

Anyone have any suggestions on how they would like to see them handled? Keep them pretty much the same?

I don't know about you, but being level drained sucks :(

The only thing more annoying in 3.5 than level drain is equipment loss.

Death is like a distant fifth, after ability drain and having a Druid in the party.

Personally, I never allow negative levels to become permanent. If you can't get restoration, then the negative level goes away when you gain your next level.

Andy Collins said that there'd be no XP-eating monsters anymore (read: bye-bye level drain).

It seems that losing levels and losing experience is something they want to eliminate, while figuring out other ways for those concepts to work in 4E. I suspect they'll be either tied to the new "condition" system, or simply a set of blanket penalties depending on the monster or spell.

That's pretty much what we do, too.

I think there will still be negative levels...

It's just that they stay around with the -1/neg level to everything, and don't cause levels to be recalculated.

I'm hoping that they implement a SWSE-style Condition Track. If they do, Energy Drain can simply be a persistent condition that pushes you one or more steps down the Condition Track and can't be removed until you receive appropriate Restoration magic.
