D&D 4E 4e font?

I really like the font used for the 4e stuff and I've poured over the net looking for what it may be with no luck. Is this a WotC developed internal font? It's a great font: expressive, readable, and thematic.

Anyone know what it is?

To be clear, for reference, I'm talking about the font on the front of the wizard's presents everything BUT the words Dungeons & Dragons.

I'm pretty certain its an in house font or commissioned font. I could be wrong though. Anyone at wizards willing to make a comment or join the discussion?

If the font is a free font, their are ways of removing the letters from a pdf that has the embedded font, but only the letters actually used in the pdf. This is of course only a last resort and only if the font is a freeware font.

But if you know what the font they use for Dungeons & Dragons is, feel free to share that too!

The subheads are a custom WotC face called DDLolth.

Mentor is used for body text (Mentor in the DDXP handouts, Mentor Sans in the D&D Miniatures rulebook).

You wouldn't happen to know what fonts Mentor/Mentor Sans are similar to?

Good to know. It'd be nice to be able to use the Lolth font for my campaign stuff, but I'll have to be satisfied with some "similar", though there isn't much close to it.

You might be able to find a lookalike font here:

Hmmm, that's a neat site. Too bad that it gives me a list of similar fonts that are as obscure (and unavailable!) as the Mentors. :(

A quick run through of fonts in Word suggests mainly that Word/Windows ships with way too many bone-ugly fonts. And that Cambria and Trebuchet would probably do as stand in fonts for Mentor and Mentor Sans, respectively.

Yeah Trebuchet is a decent Mentor Sans stand in. That's what I used for my monster blocks that I put together a couple of weeks ago. I'll have to try out Cambria for Mentor.

But, yes, to be sure, Windows has terrible default fonts, Arial and Times New Roman need to be eradicated from the world.
