4e, Karma, and Beyond

First Post
Due to continued delays in the release of the GSL, we have decided to discontinue plans to support 4e for the 2008-2009 publishing year. While we had hoped to support the system starting in the fall and early winter, the delays in receiving the necessary information have forced us to postpone those plans. Even if we received the GSL tomorrow, we are not confident we could produce quality products for the new system in such a short time, and feel it more prudent to delay any 4e materials than to rush inferior products to market.

Another issue is that our fiscal and publishing year runs October to October, which means we start drafting our budget now. Again, because at this time we don’t even know for sure if the GSL will be released, we can no longer delay our budget planning while we wait on WoTC. We have several major projects already planned, and we need to determine now where resources are being allotted.

Continued Support for 3.5:

We will continue our support of 3.5 in the 2008-2009 publishing year. In the coming days, we will launch an open call for freelancers to help further develop product lines like Adventure Havens, Mythos, Neiyar, and Nemesis.

4e Conversions

Though we had hoped to provide free conversion guides to our customers so that their 3.5 products could be easily ported to the new system, because we have not even seen the GSL to know if this is possible, we have put this plan on indefinite hold. At least for the coming year, we will not be able to dedicate any resources to this project. That said, should any gamers feel the urge to create their own house conversions and want to share them for free with others, let us know and we’ll include links on our site to the best conversions.

Karma Roleplaying System

We are currently in the middle of play testing the rules for our own Karma Roleplaying system. The response to our pre-supplements, Elemental Gemstones and The Cosmology of Karma, has been extremely positive, and we are confident gamers will enjoy the flexibility of the system. Early this spring we will have a quick start guide available to give players a sneak peek, and the full core book will be available in the early fall.

Other Systems

We have spent a great deal of time looking at other gaming systems and licenses over the past year. As gamers, we enjoy a variety of systems. As publishers, however, we have decided that at this time it is best to stick with our strengths and not attempt to spread ourselves too thin.
