D&D 4E 4E monk am i missing something?

Reading the article, and not just going by the character builder, helps here.

It says that using the enchant item and transfer enchant rituals, a monk can empower his fists. If you want to flavor that as handwraps go ahead, but I would stop short of making that slot unavailable for other enchanted items.

Man, typing that makes me want to play M Bison from street fighter now, with blue flaming fists. Awesome.

My favorite part is how, fluff and mechanics wise, it kind of gets crazy with some kinds of magic weapons. You can make your monk's fists invisible, transformable , or extendible

I suggested via email way back when the playtest first came out that the monk get the ability to use an equivalent to a 'transfer enchantment' ritual something like 1/day during a rest or by meditating with a weapon like a swordmage (so they can pick up any legal enchantment from treasure like anyone else, especially an issue before level 5 or with no ritual caster in a party). At this point, though, I really hope that they did both something like that AND unified this with the Assassin's Ki Focus.
