D&D 4E 4e price increase?

I just noticed that price of the 4e products I have on my Amazon wish list--the PHB and the MM, and presumably the DMG, have increased in price to $35 (23 and change with the amazon discount). I'm almost certain it was $30 just a few days ago, and the EN World 4e site says they're $30. Anyone else notice this?

Well. I was excited about the release of 4e until I saw the regular price of the books.

But if Amazon's offering 34% off, then that's great!

To answer your question: Yes, I noticed this. And I've been noticing price-creep for a long time now.

I'll consider it inexpensive as long as its under $40. I'll consider $40 standard.

That's what I expect to pay for a gaming book of that size, hardbound. Its about what I pay other companies.

I consider $40 standard for a complete game in a single volume. D&D requires 3 books to play. $120 is not standard; its highway robbery.

I don't think WotC has ever made any form of official annoucement about the price of the books. We only have the Amazon listing to go by. I have a feeling that $29.95 price they listed was speculation.

How much do you pay for pizza & eating out in, say, a month? How much do you pay going to the theater and renting movies in a year? How much D&D do you play?

I consider a hardbound, full-color book with professional art to be a bargain when it costs less than a meal for my family.

As for the outrage of $120 for the core rules, the players only need the PHB. In fact, you really don't need a PHB for every player. The DM needs the three core, but still, not that expensive.
