Hello Evilhalfling, The Pre-release Rules Compilation will, for all intents and purposes, expire May 20th with the release of Keep on the Shadowfell, as it will no longer be “pre-release” at that point. It will not be updated or corrected with material from hardcopy published material for sale. PrRC is a compilation of preview and promotional material released intentionally by WotC as part of its marketing strategy, or derived by the 4e fan community indirectly from that material, which is a foreseeable consequence of releasing the information. That includes articles publically available on WotC’s website, material released from the D&DXP convention, and tidbits revealed by designers in their ‘self-censored’ blogs. It does not contain information from NDA’d sources, ‘leaked’ sources (stolen from their offices, or leaked by the printer), or from published-for-sale sources, such as Races and Classes or Worlds and Monsters. PrRC is free, and no money is changing hands. I have not used their logos, or any artwork (though I’d love to add some of the new artwork!). As I’ve tried to give sources for the material contained within PrRC wherever possible, it should not be construed as plagiarism, as that involves the attempt to pass work as your own original creation. I have made it clear that the PrRC contains errors, is incomplete, and is not to be used to judge 4e. PrRC has been available for more than a month now, and I have had no communication with WotC, either positive or negative, regarding the project here in this thread, and I have offered to take it down voluntarily if they, or EnWorld administrators, wanted. In fact, Morris now points visitors to the Unofficial 4e Information page to the PrRC http://www.enworld.org/index.php?page=4e. My hope is that fans and WotC see PrRC for what it is: an excited fan working with other excited fans, attempting to do the community a service by collecting the available information in one location. It is a form of emergent, fan-to-fan, viral marketing or hype. Think of PrRC like a free demo of a (gasp) video game. You get to play one level with limited options, but it is enough to get you hooked and you buy the full game when it comes out. I know I am looking forward to the full rules; I won’t have any interest in updating PrRC when there are official books in my impatient hands – I’ll be too busy playing 4e. I hope this answers your concerns. Verys.
