D&D 4E 4e / Saga

Would it upset things horribly if I were to dropkick the 4e classes and substitute in the way classes work in SW Saga? Off the top of my head, I'd think it would be OK, although I admit that I'm not the best at thinking things through the whole way. I just really dislike the endless powers and book keeping involved in 4e. Wizards, I'm used to it for, but not fighters.

I think it would be an awful lot of work, to be honest. :) I wouldn't even know where to begin.

I believe someone's come up with a Saga Fantasy system... It might be better off to start there, rather than start from 4e and move towards Saga.

I keep brainstorming but not writing a system where you don't have classes, just feats and power sources. It would make copious use of page 42 in the DMG, and would probably incorporate some sort of "super meter" mechanic, where you can pull off increasingly impressive things as combat goes on.

Most of the time it would come down to "describe what you want to do, make an attack roll, and deal damage based on page 42." You'd use feats/character points/whatever to get access to different types of magic, to improve skills, and to become proficient in weapons and armor, but pretty much everything would be up to the players describing cool ideas.
