But seriously, there has been a very brief mention of a d20 Modern game that was made off hand by a developer (The Rouse?) months before 4e was released in a comment about the 4e GSL that probably has no bearing on current plans whatsoever. That's about the closest you'll get, I think. I would say nothing is in the works at the moment for anything sci-fi related, and we have no idea if anything is even in the works for non-D&D based 4e-like products at all.

yeah, forgot about Star Wars...but I was more hoping for something generic.

thinking about it I can take elements from SWSE to try and make my own. But I was really hoping for a generic setting without specific powers.

I was curious if anyone has heard if there is a 4e sci-fi setting in the works?

BTW, when you say "4e", do you mean "D&D 4e"? As in Spelljammer or something? Or do you mean a sci-fi *game* using a new/modified version of 4e?

I'm thinking d20 Modern "4e" here, but I don't know if such a product is forthcoming.

Dreamscarred Press is working on a "Smart Setting"* called Dark Earth which is Science-Fantasy, with a slant towards Sci-Fi on that scale.

Goodman Games is publishing DEM's "Amethyst" setting which is also part Fantasy, part Sci-Fi.

*= Smart Settings will be a series of short (20 pages) settings that gives a GM a basic world in which to game, without restricting them. If a specific setting proves successful, DSP will continue to support it with additional material.

would be interested into how to work sci-fi combat powers.

For the most part these are longer ranges, using mostly weapons rather than psionics et al

wrote big 3.5 sci-fi rpg, not sure how id start to convert to 4e style.

would it need at will, encounter powers etc for space combat??

Then Amethyst is close to what you may want. The 4 new classes are entirely Science Fiction-based with variety of weapons and armour to fit and match. They are also designed in a certain way to allow their removal from the setting if you want to create your own homebrew setting with a science fiction flare. Hope that helps...

I hope that doesn't sound like I'm bragging. :)
