D&D 4E 4e Slaughtergarde

For a first attempt, I'd do Keep on the Shadowfell.

Browsing through it, I was at first unimpressed. But then when I saw how the old standbys like goblins and zombies worked in 4e, I got excited about it. There's also a lot of good advice in there on how to run it and keep it active and fun, not simply "by the book."

Sorry, didn't realise my own thread has perked up again. (I had given up on it).

@Drammattex: Thank you so much for trying to get me info. If you can still be bothered with me ;), try this email address (it must be wrong on the website :().

Thank you so much. We are well into the laboratory now and all conversions have gone well :) If interested it is the Kodo campaign in my signature. I have combined it with an African setting. I have another thread where I have shown my converted creatures.

@Bodhiwolff: I am with Drammattex on this. Unless you are very comfortable at conversion (I have done a lot). Slaughtergarde is 3.5 and is certainly not something to just rush in to for 4e. It needs quite a bit of adaptation. The Shadowfell is pretty good by most reports for a 1st adventure. I have it but haven't read it yet ;).

Swapping Dungeons

Have played through most of the 1st dungeon and all has gone well.

When studying the enemies of the next two phases of this module last night I realised that the next two parts (armory and temple) should be swapped for 4E.

Instead of the armory with gnolls and trogs being last I am bringing this forward and making the drow temple the third adventure. This just made sense when I listed all the creatures on a piece of paper with their 4E counterparts next to them.

Whilst we are low Heroic level still, I have the armory slated for upper heroic and the temple for low paragon. In the meantime I plan on inserting H3 Thunderspire Labyrinth and using the 'Demon Well' (or whatever it is called) as another part of the shattered demon fortress.

Seems to be running together well now. Anyone else tried Slaughtergarde for 4E?

Need Help

OK I have done a little googling but have come up unsatisfied.

Anyone got any ideas I could use for a picture of the Ebon Tower? (Basically looking for a cool dark tower. I think there have been some for FR and in other books, but I cannot locate a pic).

Any help appreciated...

Thanks

Thanks Soel.

Therein lies the problem - when I find a decent tower it is is wrong setting or surrounded by unwanted creatures.

The first one is definately out as the Ebony Tower is inland. I also believe it to be isolated making the second one no good...for how the module is written.

HOWEVER, that second picture has just inspired me :) I don't really want the Ebon Cabal hidden away in my campaign, and what better way to make them more part of society than to have a village at the foot of the tower :) This fits with the fact I have the Ebon Cabal run the Seven Pillared Hall (in H2 Thunderspire) also.

Thanks - that may well have sparked a whole new direction for the Ebon Tower... Cheers.

Inserted Thunderspire Labyrinth after the first dungeon of Slaughtergarde and it is working great.

In fact the Mages of Saruun that run the 7 Pillared Hall are in fact the Ebon Cabal and the links in here are great.

There is a drow I can have as a contact for info later on when the PCs find them in league with a rival noble house.

All fitting together...oh, and I so have to make the 'Well of Demons' another part of Slaughtergarde. Turning out to be an easier adventure path to put together than I thought.

Given the African-influenced setting and ultimate end game of stopping a demon returning to the world, can anyone help me with some other adventures to insert into this campaign.

Kinda like the theme of 'apes' and 'demons' to keep reappearing. In fact I am going to somhow tie Mu Taan La in with Demogorgon and Yeenoghu, or both.

being in an African setting I have been making a lot of use of gnolls, so that might be worth pursuing.

So any of the new 4E adventures inc Dungeon fit? (Though I am more than happy to adapt older adventures too).

Goodman Games's Dragora's Dungeon has a big ape theme with a sentient ape race, but it's for first-level characters. You could upgrade that to your PCs' level.

The November issue of Dungeon (issue 160) has a Scales of War adventure path adventure called Den of the Destroyer that includes gnolls in an ancient githzerai temple. It's for characters of 7th level and brings them to 9th.
