D&D 4E 4e spellbook questions

I think I remember hearing somewhere that rituals are recorded in scrolls...

Similar to spells in 3.5, you can have rituals in a book, or on a scroll. A "scroll" ritual is one time use, but a ritual you scribe into a book can be reused. For magiac rituals anyway. Alchemy [and I would guess, non-magic crafting] would probably use mechanics similar to rituals, but may not be as specific about how the instructions/recipes work.

If a spell is a daily power at level 1, can it become an encounter or at-will spell at higher levels? It wouldn't make sense to me that a 22nd level Wizard would only be able to fire off one acid arrow a day, same as a 3nd level Wizard.

Actually, look at the example of a low level spell: Sleep.

Daily, has no level range that it affects, simply a Roll vs Will, affects an area, etc...

This spell is useful all the way up, no matter what level you get to, sleep is still useful... I could foresee a 28th level wizard putting dragons and giants to sleep with a wave of his/her hand!

I think they finally figured out how people think, people want spells that will be useful until the end of the game, not simple building blocks, which once a few levels are gained are looked at as wastes of space in their spellbooks.

I agree, -Avalon-, and I love that spells that were only useable for a few levels in 3.x will now get play for 30. Its one of the things I love about 4e.

However, I also think a spell that a caster can only fire off once a day at level 3 should be useable at least a couple times a day by a 28th level caster. So, maybe a daily can be made into an encounter or an at-will spell at higher levels, (which would be great).

I also remember hearing something about abilities that will allow higher level characters to recharge daily powers--so maybe higher level wizards can just take an ability and fire off their dailies 2 or 3 times a day?

One thing I loved about 3.x spell casting was the way, over time, a character could prepare x number of spells of each level--which at higher levels, meant a slinger could have Meteor Swarm, Imprisonment, Crushing Hand and Time Stop all ready to go--or he or she could have 4 Meteor Swarms on deck. I'm just hoping that casters will still have some of that flexibility in 4e.

This actually gets at the more general question: can you take the same daily, utility, or encounter power twice to allow you to use it more than once per day/encounter? I'm kind of hoping not. I like the idea that players have to spread their abilities around rather than being one-trick ponies.

The Archmage in the Epic Destiny Excerpt has a 21st level feature that allows you to prepare a daily spell twice.
