4e - Summer's End 18th Level Delve - 2 parties FULL

Yes, I agree initiative will be key.
I have a +18 BEFORE your bonus, plus a feat lets me roll initiative twice and use the better result. So there's a good chance I'll get to go first and tie up at least a few enemies so y'all can focus fire without getting swarmed.

Okay, I'm gonna be straight here.

I'm really not having fun with this game.

That sucks, because I think I could have fun, if my organization was a bit better or I had a bit more time to work on it. My 4e DMing skills are poor, I'm not familiar enough with paragon level powers and capablities.

The only reason I haven't said "ROCKS FALL! EVERYONE DIES!" is a sense of responsibility, so... what do we do?

Replacement DM? Keep group 1 going at an even slower pace? (I'm about 75% finished withthe monsters turn.) Demand that I keep up[ with the updates? Major Hiatus of both groups? (I'd be saying restart in January)

I just gotta be upfront. I'm not feeling it, and I don't like that. It's causing disruption to my other campaigns and my plans to actually play too.

I don't think you should feel responsible to us, personally. Sometimes, things just don't work out the way you expect.

I'd say if you aren't feeling this, give it a miss. Play more 4E paragon stuff or whatever. If you feel like picking something like this up again, we'll be there :)

I'm cool with a cancel. Unless someone else wants to step in to DM. Anyway, it was fun slinging spells around while it lasted. High paragon wizards are fun. :D

I agree in that if you don't want to do it, don't do it. Especially if its messing up your other games.

Too bad. I've been wanting to test that idea for Swordmaster for awhile now. And now there's a ton to MP stuff to mess around with too.

Based on the KK (which seems similar in concept) stuff I've run so far, complexity does drop dramatically once you get past the first few rounds after engagement (sometimes it takes a round or so for everyone to get to grips with each other). Looking at this fight, our party just dropped several dailies, encounter powers, and Action Points. Daily powers often have more complexity than encounter powers, which are usually more involved than at wills. Using AP compounds this. And afterwards, monsters die or get crippled with conditions so you have less to do on their turn.

Not really trying to change your mind; just letting you know that not every round of paragon combat is a huge deal.

I fully understand, and am fine with whatever works best for you, Gene. As I see it, if you feel that continuing to run the adventure will help your 4E DMing skills, then we'd all be happy playing along at whatever pace works best for you. If, however, you'd rather just drop it and focus on your other projects, we'll all be fine with that, too.

Personally, I've tried three pbp DMing stints now, and all have faded away. I just can't seem to get into the DM role in this medium the same way that I do in RL. Let us know what you want, and definitely let us know if you start something else. I've enjoyed what we've done here so far, and I'm definitely enjoying Scales of War.

I'd agree with the above sentiments. If you get too much on your plate, better to bow out and apologize, than try to make fun out of something that isn't.
