You get 5 exclusive (not available in booster packs or other sets), non-random (they do not vary among starter sets) miniatures: Elf Warlock, Human Sellsword, Dwarf Battlemaster, Young Green Dragon

Something doesn't quite add up...

Oh thanks.

Fixed it to read, "You get 5 exclusive (not available in booster packs or other sets), non-random (they do not vary among starter sets) miniatures: Elf Warlock, Human Sellsword, Dwarf Battlemaster, Yuan-Ti Swiftscale, and Young Green Dragon."

I recently found him. :) He'd been hiding in work and video games. Morrus, I hope all is well across the Atlantic? (isn't it early over there?)

good review, a little heavy on the hyperlinks to purchase which affects credibility.

I never played minis but want to get into them just to have something to do with roommates.

i am curious- the starter set has the 4 characters play vs the dragon? how balanced are the teams?

Also- is dungeons of dread the 1st in the new set? has the minis game undergone a change like 3.5 went to 4e, and the old mini sets arent compatible?

phil,

Thank you for the feedback. I'm going to use some referral links to help pay for the site. I will do my best to keep it inobtrusive. I do need to improve/decide on site navigation. I chose FRPGames.com (over Amazon) because I've ordered a buncha stuff from them in the past and they have a great selection (I saw today they have minis for Mutated Russian Troopers that have a chimpanzee mutation. Woah, crazy stuff). FRPGames.com also has customer service and will order stuff if they don't offer it.

starting scenario? I haven't yet played the starting scenario since it seemed rather limited to me (not a TON of standalone value). I THINK the implied scenario is supposed to be the Young Green Dragon & Yuan-Ti Swiftscale VS Dwarf Battlemaster, Elf Warlock, and Human Sellsword. I will try it out and let you know how that goes.

old minis? WotC is undergoing a compatibility revision with the old mini sets. They are starting with the 3 most recent sets and then going from there. Two of the sets of cards are already downloadable as a PDF (for color printing). Unfortunately, if you have lots of the Dragoneye and earlier sets and want to try out the minis game, you are either stuck waiting for a conversion or you gotta buy the newer stuff. I DO think it is cool that WotC is going back and redoing ALL the cards from all the sets. Just think on this, Dungeons of Dread is the 13th set! So they have 12 in total to do (10 after the ones they've completed already).
