4th Edition is Looming - Here is More Evidence

WotC has severed their ties to Code Monkey Publishing "Because of Future Product Considerations." If that doesn't mean 4th edition is coming out soon, I don't know what does.

Doubtful this is any indication of 4e. It's considered more likely that it ties in with WotCs anticipated subscription service for web-based content, one of which is rumored to be an on-line character generator.

Also, there is a several page thread in the 'Computers' forum on this.

Or it means they are going to make a character generator themselves? This is weak.

Given the large list of 3.5 compatible products coming out in July and August of 2007, I have my doubts about 4E in 2007.

If the deal Code Monkey publishing were somehow central to the business of the game, I might agree that it was sign of deep and powerful movements in the Force.

Lacking that quality, though, puts this on the level of any other business decision - they have some plan that may be more lucrative than working with Code Monkey. Maybe another developer has offered a deal. Perhaps they want to do it in house. Perhaps they want to do similar things with new website content. Perhaps it is one of many things that are far short of 4e.

So, I'm sorry, but I just don't see this as particularly indicative of 4e looming.

Agreed. If anything, I'd say 4e announced at Gen Con '07, then released at Gen Con '08...or something like that.
