There's no 4th edition planned that I've heard of. There's a 3.1 edition planned for in a few years time (basically errata fixed and othe rminor changes) but that's about it.

Unless you've heard something somewhere....? I can't see it, myself.

I heard that they're going to skip 4th edition altogether and create a 5th edition instead. I heard it from Larry, the local store owner. He also said that WotC is getting bought out from White Wolf. Larry should know, he operates a game store after all.

WoTC will go to a new naming convention with the next edition.

It will be called D&D XP.

It will only cost $5 when it comes out but you will need to pay $5 every year to stay current or they will send goons by to pick up your books.
