I'm not going to give legal advice on cybersquatting laws. But I will suggest that you read up on them if you intend to do this.

But is dnd a registered trademark of WotC? D&D is, but I'm not sure if dnd is considering there is dndadventure.com, dndresources.com etc. out there which are not official sites of WotC.

And by my understanding, as long as he doesn't do this with the bad faith intent to sell the domain to WotC, he should be fine.
