Decisions, decisions...

If it were truely a deserted island: Tunnles and Trolls with as many solo mods as possible.

5 books-
GURPS with Space, Supers and one other.
Hero 5th ed.
Gamma World.

5 RPGs-
GURPS with ALL the supplemental books.
Hero 5th ed. with any supplements there are.
Gamma World.
Palladium Fantasy 1st ed.
My own homebrewed game.

5 Books?

1) HERO 5Ed

2) Deadlands

3) Arcana Evolved

4) Traveller

5) Space: 1889

AE would be my 1 book D&D substitute. Deadlands & Traveller stand up on their own, Space: 1889 is simply a very rich setting, easily as imaginative as RIFTS, but with better mechanics. Any other genre of gaming, I'd run with HERO.

Not that I couldn't run any of those in HERO (because I have), but that's beside the point.

1) D&D v.3.5 / Pathfinder
2) Mutants & Masterminds (2E)
3) True20 Revised
4) Earthdawn
5) Alternity

Honorable Mention: Gamma World

In no order:
1. 4E
2. Runequest 3rd (or maybe just Basic Roleplaying, I could wing CoC games with it)
3. Hero 5th
4. Traveller (Mongoose)
5. Paranoia

I've really enjoyed reading all of your lists.

Here's mine

D&D 3.5 A solid fantasy rpg and an excellent incarnation of D&D
GURPS 4e A good anything rpg. Love the DIY toolkit
Star Frontiers Such a fun space opera game
Labyrinth Lord A rules-light fantasy rpg in the old school vein
Lord of Fantasy I just bought it, haven't played it, but damn it looks cool.

In no particular order ...

1 Mage (Ascension or Awakened)
2 Ars Magica
3 Rolemaster
4 Arcana Evolved
5 IK / Pathfinder

I know that #5 sort of combines 2, but they just taste so great together.

Top five would be:

D&D 4e
M&M 2e
SW Saga
Spycraft 2.0
HERO 5th

(The preceding list assumes all supplements are also available)
