Like I said earlier somewhere upthread, it is a well-proven fact that nobody can proofread their own texts. Something to do with your mind filling in words and correcting mistakes before you recognize them. Of course, I used to think that I was the one exception to the rule - until I started writing texts for a rather respected company that employed a professional proofreader. Knowing this, I took extra care to deliver my texts to him without any mistakes in them whatsoever, and I often couldn't believe what this guy still managed to find in them. And this was in my native language and after running things through an (admittedly primitive) spelling checker.The whole thing turned into a bit of a friendly war - which I lost without ever winning a single battle. I've never understood how this guy managed to do what he did, especially since you wouldn't be able to find a single mistake in anything that had been through his hands.Anyroads. I've accepted the phenomenon as a fact of life ever since, even though I must sometimes still restrain myself when I read things I've run though my system of checks multiple times and I still find glaring mistakes, typos, and whole words missing in them.</blockquote>
