Well, I did not see this coming.

The questions have been raging for years. Is 5e going to be a videogame? Is 5e going to be a card game? Turns out:

Looks like they've even brought on two of the MtG designers: Richard Garfield and Skaff Elias!

It's a joke, right? But still, this little browser-based videogame -- actually designed with Richard Garfield and Skaff Elias on the team -- looks to contain all of the hyperbolic fears of many D&D fans, all in one package!

I do not know what a Level 7 Waghalter (what is a " Waghalter" at all?) can do against a Level 17 Great Druid, but part of me wants to kill you for making me think there was actually a 5e Preview! You think you can trust some people... ( ;) )

You get to live because Sagiro is on this project, hehehe...

As much as I hate CCG's, if this came out in dead tree format, I might get it as a B&P game. Can't be any worse than munchkin, can it?

Waghalter is the title for a 2nd level Assassin, iirc.

Nice. I wanna try it! :)

I know several people at work who'll definitely love this. Since there's both a weekly Magic game and a D&D game going on at the office, this should be a perfect fit.

Part of what actually sort of appeals to me about the game:

They're apparently making it "free to play," and you gain new cards not by spending extra money to buy an expansion pack, but by playing the game.

That'd be hard to replicate on a tabletop, but it pretty much solves my main issue with CCG's.

It does look like a fun little browser game.

It's interesting to look at this game and ask, "How is D&D NOT this game? What sets it apart?" In other words, even though this game looks perfectly fun, why SHOULDN'T 5e go in this direction? (or should it?)
