6/2 DDI update complete!

You're not missing anything; the D&D Compendium is just a compiled collection of rules. Fluff material is still the retaining of the books.

The Compendium is supposed to complement, not supersede, the rulebooks and Dragon Articles.

OK, so it was a change in plans. Good to see I'm not going crazy. I have a subscription to this but haven't logged in in over 2 months because of a misunderstanding. :(

edit to add: I don't mean this to sound so negative since I found the Compendium quite useful when making a new character but it's been that long and I was hoping for more from the DDI.

This month marks the point where I'm subscribing to ddi for the Compendium even more than for the character builder. Holy cow, NOTHING makes prepping for adventures easier than being able to quickly draw from every single monster & magic item published in any book or magazine, all in front of me at once. If they copied over without screwed-up formatting it'd be even better.

Incidentally, I think I have an unnatural love for the kenku. Is that so wrong?

This is for you Pcat!

One thing that works, for me, is to setup word so it copies only text. That cleans up the text quite well.

Then, with quick use of highlighter/bold, I mark the things I want/need to be reminded of and I'm solid.

What bugs me about this is it "used" to work. I used to be able to copy/past it into word complete with the background color formatting. I still had to change the size of the space between the lines, but that was a quick to click thing.

After their first big update- I can still do the quick two click space between the lines update, but I also have to now change the font sizes, and do my own background color formatting. Kind of annoying.

I agree, and my "what would be even better" is if I could put in 3rd party material I own.

I have the Creature Collection, Dungeon Denizens, and the various Critter Caches. It would be great to have them included when I want to search for aberrants between 10th and 14th level.

I'm really hoping that when we get the second part of the gaming in code blog, it opens the doors for stuff like this through third party stuff.

Try using Google Chrome, it keeps about 90%+ of the formatting intact when copy/pasting into Word 2007. If using Open Office 3 not as good, and I can't test Word 03.
