6/21 DDI update is live

The server errors seem to all be arising from the same issue, which involves tables. Those will be fixed with an interim update next Tuesday, June 28.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to see the CC Templar (updated) so soon. You guys don't always get praised for things done well. So I'll say it---good job!

I've worked in software development and know what a beast it is sometimes. Too bad software bugs don't have their own Monster Vault entry :)

Anyway, thanks again.

Hey, as critical as I was, and I'm sure others have been, I just wanted to say thanks for giving a response on a personal level. I don't know how tight a leash they have you on, but more communication would serve public perception of WotC in good stead. People in today's connected world will forgive errors from people they "know" from online interactions, but will rarely forgive silence.

I know it's not easy to read these forums given the amount of criticism that's out there. Again, thanks.

I checked out the equipment screen a bit. It seemed a bit better organized but didn't really blow up my skirt.

I also remember someone talking about house rules for the character builder but I seem to remember it was house ruled magic items which I think is the easiest house rule to work around on the character builder.

Being able to add feats will handle most house-ruled games. Your gm gives you a free expertise feat because they think those feats were to fix holes in the game? No problem. Your GM thinks power swap feats should be free to someone who has a Multi-class feat (That's me!) No problem. Or if your campaign is about scouts for an army and the GM gave everyone the Stealth Skill for free.

I really think that WotC needs to stop dragging their feet on things like this. The more they do, the more people will be going to third party versions of things that do more than what they pay for in DDI.

I'm thinking C.

Yeah, you know, there's criticism and there's calling people incompetent. I'm not so sure you should get a free pass for being insulting just because someone from the company shows up here and responds. That doesn't absolve you of your sins.

Are you talking about just granting the character an extra (already existing) feat? Or adding entirely new feats to the CB? The former is an easy fix, the latter is very difficult if you want those feats' mechanical effects to propagate throughout the rest of the CB's math/power cards.

We're coming up on 9 months since they stopped giving a crap about the offline builder, which could, out of the box, do simple power, feat, and skill adds. This builder still can't do that, and that's silly, because it's just a different interface for the same XML-formatted data and backend. There is no reason that they couldn't just grant the ability to do simple houserule adds.

The other, more desirable ability, to add custom content and make it jive with the existing stuff, is more difficult, as you point out, and honestly, given their inability or unwillingness to even add a simpler feature, is something we are very unlikely to ever see this builder do.

Free feats. Not creation of new feats. We get plenty of those every month.
