6th level spell for sorcerer

I am at school right now, I'll put my spell list on tonight so you can see it, True seeing is out of question because I have a cirlet of true seeing. This is my first spellcaster and I must say I love it. It was nice playing a barbarien, but in the higher levels it just gets boring. I am not trying to offend someone who loves fighter types, I like them too.

And don't let anyone tell you that the "burn through your spells faster" effect is a significant mitigator, either. (And they'll try! :)) When you're casting twice as many spells in a round, the combats are generally lasting half as long.

It depends. The Defenders tend to be fairly RP heavy. As I recall, they tend to have lots of game days with at most one or two fights, meaning those fights are also awfully tough. So they can feel free to rev up into high speed every time. In a game with more dungeon crawling, there may actually be an issue of not blowing too many spells on early fights that don't really warrant it.

If you don't have Haste already, Mass Haste is the spell to go with for sure!

What other spells do you have? This would certainly help to give a better advice!

Other spells I like from 6th level include:

Greater Shadow Evocation
Tenser's Transformation

Analyze Dweomer is also nice, if there is no Wizard in the party and you don't have common access to identification services.

I noticed that in the Tenser's Transformation description it mentions having to consume a potion of strength every time you cast it. What is a potion of strength? I didn't find that one in the DMG. Also, how much does it cost?

I've seen the reference to "Strength" spell/potion also. My guess is they mean Bull's Strength. The potion of Bull's Strength costs 300gp.

Cheers

Eyebite is a nice spell for sorcerers as well, because it allows a choice of a variety of different effects. Increased flexibility in a limited list of spells is a Good Thing.

My sorcerer PC took Chain Lightning as his first 6th-level spell. It's been tremendously useful in our campaign, mainly because we have been in a lot of close-quarters battles. Unlike area spells, CL lets you pick and choose which targets are hit, which is great when baddies are swarming around and between your allies.

After that, I took Disintegrate. It's one of the few save-or-die spells that works on constructs and undead; besides that, it has great utility use, as it can create a shortcut through almost any wall, floor, or other obstruction.

Next will probably be Greater Dispelling, since I didn't take ordinary Dispel. If not that, then perhaps Prismatic Eye from MoF. (It acts like Prismatic Spray, but projects a ray of a single random color once per round, and each color is only fired once.)

I might have taken Mass Haste, but that seemed redundant since I have Haste as a 3rd-level spell. Instead, I took the Chain Spell metamagic feat, from T&B. So I can cast Chained Haste with a 6th-level slot, without needing to waste another known spell on it. The additional benefit is that the feat is useful for lots of other spells too.

If you do not have a familiar, I'm not sure I would recommend Anti Magic Field. If you do have a familiar, though, definitely take this one! You can have your familiar be the recipient of the spell, then the little guy can sit on top of the fighter's backpack. A fighter with AMF around him will be a lot better than you with it! This can work even better with improved familiars. It can be crazy effective if you use a monk instead of the fighter!

Sorry, Number47, but that trick doesn't work.

You can only share spells with your familiar when it's within 5 feet. If it moves further than 5 feet away, the spell effect ends.

I don't have the book in front of me, but I believe that you can make the familiar the recipient of the spell. You don't share it, only the familiar has it.

Am I wrong?
