8th Level Sorcerer needs new spell

Seconding Grease, Mount, Silent image. :)

Benign Transposition is especially fun, if you have a flying familiar. :D

Charm Person is also a good choice, though not very useful in combat.

Enlarge Person might be good, depending on what warrior-types you have around usually.

Shield is pretty much a must-have spell to get decent AC.

Magic Missile is also very useful, especially once you face nasty incorporeal things.

For the record, I also think you are a bit heavy on those graspy/touchy spells there. ;)

Also Ray of Enfeeblement with Empower Spell is some reaaaally nasty stuff.

What is your complete spell list?

Benign Transposition is great, but all higher CL does is add to its minimum 110 ft range and allow for overcoming SR...except it's a spell to cast on an ally, so you likely don't need to worry about SR. What I'm trying to say is...99.9% of the time, BT will be just as good from a wand as from your spell list. It's not worth a spell known, IMO.

I forgot to add for grease: If you have the Sculpt Spell feat (useful in general, and if not it's also available as a metamagic rod), then for +1 spell level you can greatly increase grease's area. It almost feels like cheating, it's such a good deal.

More to the story...

Thanks for the posts. I appreciate all your input. There is more to the story that will explain my options better. Also, here is my full spell list.

1st: chill touch, corrosive grasp, mage armor, ray of enfeeblement, shocking grasp
2nd: Pyrotechnics, Rainbow Beam, Spectral Hand
3rd: Haste, Rainbow Blast
4th: Force Missiles

I also carry wands of magic missile and silent image. The silent image is for making walls (stone, ice, etc.), green slime puddles, etc.

My DM has negated the no saving throw on Ray of Enfeeblement, making it much less effective. He has also disallowed Benign Transposition. Grease is used by another spellcaster in the group regularly. I like variety, and I am not a maximizer when it comes to playing. I like originality and go more for character definition over sheer power.

Since getting a robe of chaos, the DM and I transformed some of my spellcasting into a recurring rainbow/prismatic theme to reflect the chaos the robe has imbued.

I appreciate the Mount suggestion. I definitely overlooked the options that provides. Combined with the Mount spell--I can get a horse of another color effect like in Wizard of Oz! That should get a chuckle. Every time I cast it, the DM can roll for a new color.:) Plus, we have been in more than one situation where we needed to carry someone out. :p

Mount.

It sounds funny, but it's a great sorcerer spell- it's like a combined shield, haste, summon monster that you just have to get creative to optimize.
Can a light horse (summoned by Mount) do well to charge, bull rush, or flank? Is it something that is worth putting mage armor on?
