A d20 campaign parallel to a certain unnamed Palladium game

Does any one have any good ideas on how to create a good chemically enhanced soldier, one that is physically enhanced by brain implants, or any of the other cool ideas from this certain unnamed source??? Would it be best to handle these as races or classes?

Unnamed source?

It's pretty obvious who you mean though. :uhoh: :\

Anyways, I have a suggestion or two. :]

First, I would make both the Chem and the Implant types be more of a template that you can apply. Doing it as a class might not be a bad idea either, but both were insanely too powerful for a regular D20 Modern/Future character, so that might be deemed unbalancing. Finally, as a Race would seem too restrictive - that and the ECL would hurt, especially if they gained all their abilities right away.

Second, I would pick up D20 Future - its got some good rules that might just help you out with trying to ah, replicate that unnamed source.

Just my thoughts,

Peterson

Again, I would suggest picking up D20 Future (its got Mecha creation rules). However, there are others out there - Guardians of Order I think might be the title to one of them.

And - hopefully before you ask - if you want to make power armor inspired by that unnamed source, might I suggest Sleep Dep Creation's Power Armor Tool Kit?

Of course, its not out yet, but it will be fairly soon, according to my sources.

Again, just my two cents,

GoO is the company that did d20 Mecha. Good book. :)

Three ways to handle it I think.

Class, becoming a juicer or crazy (to give them completely random names) is something you can multiclass into.

Race, high ECL for high powered races. They are essentially different from people and start that way as characters.

Template, these are processes that can be done to any race so a power up template with a few drawbacks (death in a certain number of years, insanity, etc.) with a healthy CR/ECL increase for the power up.

Palladium unnamed source

Why does everyone want to use D20 future for this when you could go through the OGL Steampunk which I'm planning on doing right now for unnamed source for the power armor. I would rather stick with books that I don't have to get awhole lot of new rules for myself since I don't have Modern rules and would have to get the D20 future.
My game world which was originally planned for that un-named source is being discussed through Kiln publications since I'm planning on bringing it through the OGL Steampunk sourcebook since it has alot of creation rules that are cool and some good traits and feats to incorporate into the suits.
Now I have not find any good chemical augmentation rules but you could go through the Cybernet rules also from Mongoose publishers for the other character class possibly. Mongoose has some good crunchy books for your needs. My 2 cents...

Wouldn't BESM d20 and d20 Mecha work for this unnamed game? With it's Attributes system and diversity in classes, along with the new classes in Everstone, I think it would be entirely possible to recreate the game that we shall not name but we all know what game it is... *coughriftscough* ;) ...and I think it would be fun to use that system for the game.

Here's the thing...

Why would donning a chemical suit, or getting brain implants, require you to take levels in a class? Seems to me these are equipment-cyberware issues, possibly even template issues, and not something that should be modeled by classes. Should a "Juicer" (to use the previously completely random term) really have its own class when all it be is a guy wearing suit that pumps performance-enhancing drugs into his system? Seems to me this "Juicer" is more apporpriate as an acquired template than a class.

Roudi, it's actually pretty simple...

Let's say I grab you, and slap you with some cybernetic enhancements and chemical augmentations...
Now, I just huck you into the alley...

How good are you going to be? how well are you going to understand the limits of your new abilites, as well as the proper way to use them?

While a template seems to make sense, in actuality, an AdC works better, because the trained person can do far more than the neophyte.
