The PCs are all slaves and are forced to participate in a gladiatorial event. The last team of X (where x=number of PCs) standing gains personal freedom, popular acclaim, and are courted by various political factions/adventurer guilds/street gangs/military forces, depending upon what type of campaign you decide to end up running.
