A Familiar Question

Doesn't the wizard and familiar have to be in contact at the time of the casting of the spell in order to designate the familiar as the toucher?

Ooops. You're right. Well, that severely limits the usefulness of that ability. Though, I suppose you can have the familiar hold the charge.

Just remember that if you cast any other spells before it's discharged, the spell the familiar's holding dissipates.
