As I like to say, Villains *are* Monsters, except when they're not.

We're considering permanently instituting a house rule that they grant something resembling XP (automatic level-up? not sure) and grants Treasure draws to all players upon being defeated, though. :)

Before I post more, I am going to ask my friend how exactly THEY ran the game. When we played it seemed much safer to explore new tiles than to stick together. The game ended with ONE character fighting the big bad monster and everyone else at least two tiles away.

One of the interesting things about the game is how it has mechanics that punish you for staying together and mechanics that punish you for sticking together. It was a deliberate design decision on the part of the designers (Mike Mearls posted about this on boardgamegeek).

There's a couple of grey spots in the rules, but I really didn't have many problems with them when we first played - and that was a couple of weeks before it was released. :)

Cheers!
