A few homebrewed and "fixed" races I need people to look at

Think Gnolls, but wolves instead.

Wulfen Racial Traits
- +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence
- Medium-Size: As medium-size creatures, wulfens have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- Wulfens base speed is 30 feet.
- Although Wulfen are Medium creatures, due to the fact that their bodies are vastly different them most, their armor must be personally made for them.
- Low-Light Vision: A wulfen can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. It retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
- Natural Weapons: Wulfens can make a bite attack which deals 1d4 + Str. modifier in damage.
- +2 racial bonus to Listen checks, wulfens can hear precisely
- +2 racial bonus to Survival checks, wulfen are naturally from the wild.
- +2 racial bonus to Handle Animal checks with any canine creature (Wolves, Dogs, Foxes, Blink Dogs)
- Limited Scent: A wulfen can detect opponents within 5 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 10 feet; if downwind, it drops to 0 feet. Otherwise this scent ability is exactly like that which is presented in the DMG. Wulfens tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.
- Automatic Languages: Wulfen
- Favored Class: Ranger. A multiclass wulfen's ranger class does not count when determining whether it takes an XP penalty.
- ECL: +1
I really like these and may borrow this idea for our game... as for balance... they should be LA +0... if you want LA +1 I would make the following changes:

- Racial HD 1d8+1
- +2 Dex
- Survival always a class skill
- Full Scent ability
- Track as a virtual feat while using Scent ability
- Increase Bite attack damage to 1d6+(1.5 Str)
- Bonus Languages: Common, Sylvan

On a side note, the armor restriction isn't that bad... polymorph masterwork armor then get it enchanted... could be a hassle or an adventuring hook depending on how it plays out.

Thank you for your time,
Wm. Holder

First thing. Thanks for the help guys.

sirwmholder: Go ahead and "borrow" the Wulfen. I took the race off another website much like the Irda and didn't really do anything to them.

I probably should have taken off the LA of the Wulfen before and since a few people have suggested it, then the LA is coming off. Also the natural bite attack is being increased to 1d4 + 1.5 Str. As for their armor restriction. This only really is a factor when the players face a Wulfen or if a Wulfen character wears nonmagical armor. In my world, I made it a rule that magic items resize to fit their wearer to within two sizes. So, a dragon-sized ring might not fit a halfling, but a Orge ring will.

Arkhandus: Thanks for your input. I realized the risk I took with the post, but it seems some helpful people are on the boards.

Orcs: I see that they are somewhat stronger than the typical race, but I'm still reluctant to give them a +1. I haven't really done anything to the other standard races, but a +1 LA would most likely kill this Orc race.

Do you think I should reduce the inital +4 Str to +2? I was thinking of doing it, but then that would be unfair to the players who do not wish to follow Gorg Legbreaker and thus not gain the bonuses.

Irda: I never even noticed that. I made it cast as a wizard of caster level equal to the charcters level.

K'T'Lann: hmmmm. I might give them that -1 penalty to all magic saves. Seems to fit and lower the power level.

Half-Orcs: Are they really that much more powerful than dwarves? I measured the top of a LA +0 race by using the dwarves and it seems dwarves are more powerful.

Saiyans: I appreciate the input, but I personally don't like the idea of only a certain number of chacters gaining the ability to go Super Saiyan, since in the case of magic users and really any class other than fighter will not want to spend the feat to gain the ability. Also, I'm working on feats at the moment to modify the abilities of Super Saiyans. Like Shifter feats and rage feats but for Saiyans so I don't want to introduce too many feats.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Keep it coming. I like to get responses from the wise people on here before playtesting these things more. I especially would like the Saiyan race to be analyzed since I believe its one of the unique features of my world.

For the orcs, I had this idea while driving around today, :p

They only get the bonus if they follow Gorg, right? So maybe have some sort of restriction based around that. For instance, if Gorg hates elves (dunno if he does, just an example,) make it so a follower of Gorg will not cooperate with a known elf under any circumstances, much like a Paladin's refusal of evil types. You could also throw in that a weekly sacrifice needs to be made. Probably an elf, (for my example), but you could expand it to any creature that damaged the orc, thus a worthy opponent, etc. Adds a bit of RPing restriction, but it's something I would allow for a LA +0

I like that idea Kularian. I think I will make it so that no orc that follows Gorg will be able to associate with an Ogre and will do everything in their power to destroy said Ogres, especially Orge Mages.

I know it seems weird, but an Demon disguised as a Ogre Mage was a reason the orcs led a holocaust against the Gnomes in my last campaign. This would not come up too frequently, much like the paladin refusal of evil, but would still be in there. Plus it would tie together the world history.

Keep the opinions coming guys. I appreciate all the input.

Your super-saiyan powers are far too good. +24 Str? I'd suggest basing the bonus off the barbarian's Rage ability.

What LA are the orcs? Given you get +2 to your prime stat over the other bonuses, +2 looks about right. At +0 LA there is no reason to not take the race; it's good for +1 LA too.

The catfolk look to be just over the boundary of +1 LA.

Wulfen: +1 LA looks about right. The -2 to INT doesn't counter the rest of the abilities.

Half-orc: a minor suggestion, but perhaps the favoured class line could be changed to, 'the character's highest full BAB class does not count to.. '

Actually, the Super Saiyan Powers are based off the Bear Warrior PrC.

What pushes the K'T'Lann to a +1?

And what would the change to the Half-Orc's favored class do anyway? That just seems to push the idea of a fighter type again and I'm trying to push all classes.
