Looks like Guardians of Order is going out of business and ripping everybody off... I never got my A GAME OF THRONES d20 "bonus gifts" (GM's Screen and Adventure) for preordering the AGOT Deluxe Limited Edition and it's been a freakin' year since I preordered, lol. I did get pdfs of the "bonus gifts" after bitching at the owner but the promised hardcopies never materialized... It's already three months past due from the last time he said they were shipping. As it was, the actual book was super-late, showing up late last year.

Now, I understand about small RPG companoies being late, but there's a big difference between that and what GoO is doing... The website is still up but there's been no word from the scumbag owner in four months... He's still taking money but not shipping product!!! Also cheated his freelancers, Magnum Opus clients, etc. (check the GoO wiki). He shut off his phone and doesn't answer emails. Even the most diehard GoO supporters have given up hope, as evidenced on their forums: http://www.guardiansorder.com/boards/index.php?.

DON'T BUY DIRECT FROM GUARDIANS OF ORDER and whatever RPG books you want you better get fast through your FLGS, Amazon, etc., because they are out of print!!! :(

Also, don't preorder any upcoming books from them because at this rate, they ain't ever coming out! This includes the new edition of BESM!

Ouch. That's no good.

I had a problem getting a book 4 months late from one company, but I got a free PDF version because it was late, which I have found imensely more usefull than the actual hardcover book, which I later sold.

Free pdfs of the bonus gifts are better than nothing, but that's not what I contracted for when I preordered. I was also supposed to get the book at least 30 days before it hit stores, but I got it after people at GenCon and after it was already out in stores. What the hell? Smooth move, jerkwad! I pay you $115 in advance so you can sell my copy at GenCon? Then you make me wait another five months before I can get a pdf of the stuff that was supposed to ship with it? He made me wait so long I never could even play the game...

If anything, GoO should give out free pdfs of the alleged upcoming AGOT books (whatever's done, if anything) as recompense to the fans who supported his company and tried to keep his lying, cheating butt afloat during this past year or so.

Wow! I can't say I was a very big GoO fan, but it's sad to see any company go under, and especially sad when they end up stiffing customers because of it.

Yeah, it totally sucks. On a more positive note, I thought I should mention that the remaining AGOT GoO Forum members are slowly moving the important fan material and house rules threads over to a new forum: http://z7.invisionfree.com/AGOT_RPG

Because this transference to the new board is a long, slow process (who knows if it will even get done at all, nothing's happened yet), I'd recommend anyone interested cruise on over to the GoO forums and grab whatever free material they want NOW before it's too late!!!

GoO probably paid up their hosting way in advance so it's only a matter of time before the official GoO boards go down! http://www.guardiansorder.com/boards/index.php?.

There. My public service announcement is done. Hope it helps! ;)

PS: Also heard GoO broke their distribution contract with White Wolf, but don't know the details.

Interesting. I hadn't heard anything about that. I had hoped that partnering up with WW would ease GoO's burden a bit and keep them afloat long enough to get going again. Whatever the case, I would like to more solid info about it if anyone has any.

Everyone hoped GoO would stay afloat, but that doesn't seem to be the case... Jesse Scoble was the only vocal AGOT writer on the GoO forums but has long since disappeared; last anyone heard, he had since moved on to WW (freelance?). He might know something.

BTW: All this negative info stuff I've brought up is either experienced by me firsthand (being cheated out of what I paid for in good faith and constantly lied to by GoO about release dates, GoO vanishing from their own forums, etc.), or stuff others have stated as being their info/experience, either on the GoO entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardians_of_Order or else on the GoO forums... all of which I have taken on good faith to be true. Certainly GoO is not behaving like a proper company should. :uhoh:

How the hell did you THAT, Iron Chef?

Hi Yves,

I threw an online tantrum at the GoO forums calling the owner out on the issue. That precipitated everyone (or at least what I thought was everyone) who preordered getting pdfs of the promised "bonus gifts"--but only if you emailed Mark directly. Never underestimate an angry guy with a big mouth!

Naturally, as they had before on the subject of the lateness of the AGOT DLE, GoO refused to assign the credit to me for "encouraging" them to cough up our long ago paid-for material and I was further dismissed by the GoO fanboys who sucked up to Mark... obviously operating under the delusion that playing nice with him would do them any good. Trust me, in business, it rarely does! First, you try to be nice (just to be polite), then, when they continue to ignore you, you play hardball and force them to live up to their obligations with some *cough* well-placed criticism, and if that doesn't work, moving on to legal action.

Hello Iron Chef,

seems it will never arrive to Belgium, I even haven't got Mark's email address. Do you - by any chance - still have the address?

Yves
