Tell that to the Credit Card companies you mentioned ripping off earlier. Or, alterantely, you can get off your high horse.

I was under the impression from what you said earlier that you made the Credit Card companies eat your loss for you.

In your opinion, are certain business interests more deserving of being ripped off than others?

Or is it wrong right across the board?

Quoted for truth.

I'll also note, on the flip side, that if you had something to do with the customers getting the PDF's, then thanks, I appreciate it. PDFs are better than nothing, so I'm happy to have them.

Regardless of his original intent, which probably was not to rip anyone off, the result is the same. He ripped people off. I find that inexcusable--he should have apologized and offered some kind of compensation (such as additional free pdfs which cost him nothing to ship) if he couldn't pay to print the AGOT bonus gifts.

If GoO is going through bankruptcy, that may not be an option. If he has problems with the licensing of AGoT, that may not be an option. If he's trying to get investors to help save the company, that may not be an option. If his every waking hour is spent trying to save his company and come to a place where he can make good on business arrangements, that may not be an option.

I(n any case, you have no evidence he's actually done anything unethical, and admit his intentions were likely honest. Saying you're going to do something and being stopped by outside forces despite your best efforts isn't lying, it's life. And claiming a company fears to admit that you, personally, forced them to do something that benefits a group because it would change the balance of power isn't rational, it's grandstanding.

You're upset. That's reasonable. You wanted to tell people you felt it was unwise to buy from GoO. That's reasonable. Everything else you've said is kicking a man when he's down with no proof he deserves it, and THAT'S why people are responding to you negatively.

Billy, first of all, I don't appreciate being branded as a "lunatic." I don't remember calling you any names.

Man, I hate all this wishy-washy "maybe they're just going through hard times" crap. That's sheep talk. You let these crumbums walk all over you and you deserve what you get. You're acting like GoO did me a favor by giving me only part of what I paid for. That's not how it works. I did them a favor by preordering. Failing to deliver what I paid for, and in a timely manner, is not only unethical, it's illegal. To suggest anything else is lunacy.

PS: It wouldn't surprise me if Palladium did what you said, but at least they're (allegedly) still in business and filling orders.

Mea Culpa. I see that I said "another Lunatic"...what I mean was "A Lunatic"

Like the favor you did for those Credit Card companies by taking their money, agreeing to pay it back, then not doing so? Hell, I'll call it what it is: Stealing their money.

I've spent a bit of time with Mark and Jesse on a few occasions and am pretty sure they wouldn't appreciate being called "Crumbums" and I'm reasonably certain that they haven't called you any names (which, as you've outlined above, should pretty much decide the issue for you)

That's not how it works. I did them a favor by preordering. Failing to deliver what I paid for, and in a timely manner, is not only unethical, it's illegal. To suggest anything else is lunacy.

You extended GoO credit, and they failed to meet their end of it.

You, by the same token, borrowed money and failed to deliver it back in a timely manner.

I'm not disagreeing with your opinions, I'm just wondering where you get off having those opinions?

I see you failed to address any of the comments above where you are accused of grandstanding and singning your own imagined praises. Did you miss them, or just feel it was more important to address being accidentally called a "lunatic" while calling other folks "sheep"?

PS: It wouldn't surprise me if Palladium did what you said, but at least they're (allegedly) still in business and filling orders.

So?

You've used the terms "moral" and "ethical" a few times here. If I had known that what you meant by those terms was "Financially solvent at any cost" I would've read the whole of your commentary a bit differently.

I don't recall GoO ever asking for donations.

I apologize, I think I'm confusing them with someone else, but for the life of me, I don't remember who. Someone besides Palladium was having financial difficulty and asking fans for help. Maybe they had a sale or something. This is bugging me now...

Okay, ignore me. Move along... ;)

You don't understand! He's a hero! He's the only thing standing between us sheep and an evil, potentially bankrupt one-man-Canadian corporation.

On the internet.

Credit card companies are scum. They are evil. You seriously think I should put them ahead of my customers and freelancers? That's stupid. They will just extend me credit all over again; my customers and freelancers would not. If you can't pay off everyone, you pay off the people that matter most and credit card companies are last on the list because they don't care. I tried to pay off one of the cards to keep it open and they refused! So they lost $4000 and two months later they were back offering me $4,000 in credit again! To suggest I pay them off and stiff my customers and freelancers instead is insane. Clearly, you've never run a business and have no understanding of reality. These companies are destroying America. If I loaned money at the same interest rates, I'd be called a oan shark! I have no respect for them and their attempts to financially enslave the planet. Plus, giant faceless corporations aren't people. Sure, they're made up of people (evil ones at the top), but they don't feel the loss of $100 or $1,000 like real people do.

Billy, you have proven yourself to be far from impartial by admitting friendship to Mark and Jesse. Now I see why you are calling me a lunatic and hijacking this thread--to distract the public from the fact that this "friend" of yours is ripping people off! It all becomes clear now.

As for grandstanding, I got results when nobody else did. Sure, they come out afterward and say, "We were gonna release these pdfs the whole time, it's not him!" just to make themselves look better. And all the sheep go "baa-baa" and believe them becaues they're stupid and they want to believe. But I know it was me and the groundswell of support I generated that got those pdfs released and nothing will convince me otherwise. You're simply attempting to denigrate me to lift a rip-off artist's name up out of the gutter.

I shouldn't be seeing this kind of language thrown about. You guys know better than this.

Obviously feelings are running high and this thread can't serve any useful purpose from this point on.

Thread closed.

(however, the discussion is continuing on Circus Maximus, should you wish to continue with it in a free-for-all atmosphere).
