A Game of Thrones

GRRM's official site does have new chapters from A Dance with Dragons, and one of his posts states that at least 22 chapters are done (as of March?.) We'll see it soon enough. Great series, and IMHO, ready to become the next Lord of the Rings.

'best series evar!'

Seriously this is my favorite series of all time. Like you Talath, these were the first fantasy novels where I felt like the characters were real people that I knew, and actually evoked real emotional reactions to the story.

A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons were pretty much written contemporaneously. Book 5 was originally going to come out November '06, but it got pushed back a couple months. He's mostly done with it, and the timeframe it takes is pretty much the same as AFfC but with the other characters he didn't talk about (i.e. Tyrion and Dany don't show up in AFfC but will in ADwD).

Actually, if I remember correctly a good chunk of "A Dance with Dragons" was originally going to be in "A Feast for Crows". I believe that's why "Feast" is less gigantic as far as page count goes than the rest of the books.

Anyway, I *love* GRRM's stuff. Without any spoilers, it's great how nobody has plot immunity. There were several times in the series where I felt the urge to actually drop and book and just say "holy crap!!!"... in a good way.

Edit: As far as favorite characters, I have a soft spot for Sandor Clegane (go figure) and Arya.

I threw book three in my back yard after ***The Shocker***

Mumbled around for half an hour then went and dusted the mud off the cover and started reading again. You either love or despise Martin round these parts; I fall firmly in the LUV category.
