A Halfling Outrider's Mount and Improved Evasion

The Halfling Outrider Evasion ability in CW states that he confers this ability to his mount when he's riding it. It also states that if he already has Evasion when he gets the ability, it bumps it up to Improved Evasion.

I'm guessing the upgrade does *not* translate to the mount as well? So if the mounted Outrider is hit with dragon breath and fails the save, he takes half damage and the mount takes full, correct?

Yes.

However if the mount had Evasion for some other reason already, I would allow it to be bumped by the Outrider special ability. It would be in the spirit of the rules, though one could argue the letter of the rules. The fact the Outrider has levels in, say, Rogue is of no particular advantage to the mount.
