Another really strong episode. This is great low level D&D stuff.

I do wonder, in a world where both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon especially exist, how many first-time viewers haven't figured out Egg's secret yet, especially since no one else we've seen in this series feels the need to shave their head, raising the question of why he does. along with all of the other stuff he knows and how spooked he got in this episode.

Then again, I always wonder why my players don't pick up on all the clues I drop into RPG sessions, so maybe it's not obvious to a newcomer to the Dunk & Egg stories.

I thought Egg has alopecia. As for being afraid of House Targaryen, they don't have a grand history with children. I wouldn't blame him. Since you put it in more context, I'm guessing he's Targaryen.

That they did it to the theme song has me worried that might be part of each episodes opening credits.......
I was guessing it was designed to cut the seriousness of the moment, to show the audience that this was a different kind of show from GoT.

"I'm going to be a knight!"
Dramatic GoT theme song begins
Cut the song a few seconds in with a scene of him shitting behind a tree

That being said, I did need to give a moment's thought to try to understand why that was a part of the episode.. because it was quite random.

In the story his head was shaved by his brother, to bully him.

Ah, that's right. It also works as an effective surprise now.

Separately, given what we've now seen of Sir Arlan of Pennytree -- I guess all the openings of these episodes are going to be "whoa, I did not see that coming" bits -- maybe Dunk should be asking the prostitutes if they remember Arlan, rather than the lords.
