Spoilers A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

I do have one potential quibble: they comment that Aemon was training to be a maester. But I thought that that decision came later, closer to when he turned down the crown.
Nope, he was sent to the Citadel at a fairly young age and in the books is already training to earn his Maester's chain when Egg and Dunk visit him.

Clint is correct. You may be thinking about Aemon's decision to join the Night's Watch, which did come later, and he did it to remove himself from contention for the Iron Throne.

I’m not so sure about the trial by seven lark. Why wouldn’t everybody always choose that because there’s a chance their opponent wouldn’t find 6 friends in time and automatically lose.
Yeah I can see why you'd ask that- it sounds like the biggest reasons would be 1. knowing that it's a thing at all, and 2. organizing it. The accuser needs to have 6 other people willing to risk their lives as well. In the post-show interviews they said that Aerion pulling that out was his way of abusing his power and position, they equated it to a rich/powerful person hiring a huge team of lawyers in a lawsuit.
