Legendary writer and editor Julius Schwartz passed away earlier today(
Sunday). Julie as most of you know was an industry legend who had helped shape and hone dozens of comic characters and series. His work has touched millions. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Julie a few years ago at the Pittsburgh Comicon. He was gracious, kind, fun, and always smiling. I got him to sign my
Superman from the '30s to the '70s and my
Batman from the '30s to the '70s. He liked my enthusiasm towards comics and laughed at the miniscule details I remembered from Silver Age comics. Hanging with Julie for just a few minutes was like magic. I'll always remember that weekend.
Mark Evanier has a great bio of Julie at this
link. I can't say it any better than Mark did. Our friend and contributor
Steve Chung has provided a review of FLASH # 179, which featured
Julie Schwartz as a character helping the fastest man alive. Julie guest-stared in several comics throughout his career. This is, by far, one of the best.
