Illusionist seems like the strongest in this type of free for all. Only the Diviner hard counters him, and the Diviner has to deal with everyone else.

Were I a betting man, I'd put my money with the Bladesinger. As the most martial and least magic dependent of the wizard subclasses, it should have a decisive advantage over the others should they choose to cast antimagic field on themselves as their concentration spell prior to initiative. "No magic allowed" is probably the absolute hardest of hard counters available to any wizard in this fight, after all.

I'm pretty sure abjurers are pacifists. So they'd lose. Transmuter for the win - he'd just turn into the terrasque and squash his opponent.

I thought about this too, but I'm not sure how Antimagic field interacts with ALL of the other features that the other wizards have.

The Abjurer is a pacifist only if you rp it that way.

The illusionist sends a decoy in his place and goes to the pub. The diviner sees it coming and cuts out to meet him there. The two agree to a tie as the rest of the wizards kill each other over nothing.

... The conjurer summons a host of celestials/fiends/elementals to the fight, and goes to the pub...

(Insert next wizard type and excuse to go to the pub ;))

Cheers, Al'Kelhar

... The necromancer steroid boosts his army with buffs, and goes to pub with the other squadron commander, the conjurer.

You'll never know. Whatever you think took place in the battle could be your memory, or it could be the memory the enchanter decided to give you. You might even think you snuck off to a pub...

As far as I'm concerned:
  • Abjuration Scholar - Arcane Ward makes enough mention of magic that I feel it should be shut down by Antimagic Field (AMF). At least it's guaranteed to function as intended as long as the Abjurationist keeps their distance. Everything else is irrelevant.
  • Bladesinger - Bladesong, and thus everything except for Extra Attack, is shut down by AMF. Given how much everything else is screwed by AMF, though, Extra Attack's probably the best thing to have here- especially combined with CE and SS.
  • Conjuration Scholar - Summons with ranged (nonmagic) attacks may be useful, everything else is irrelevant.
  • Divination Scholar - Portent seems to work just fine. Nothing really useful to use them on in this situation, though. Everything else is irrelevant.
  • Enchantment Scholar - Instinctive Charm only works once, and will inevitably piss off a second wizard (who may or may not be hit because of it). Not a good idea. Everything else is either magic enough to fail or irrelevant.
  • Evocation Scholar - Everything is completely irrelevant.
  • Illusion Scholar - Illusory Self only works once. Illusory Reality and illusions in general would be shut down in the radius of AMF, but otherwise work as intended.
  • Necromancy Scholar - Undead with ranged (nonmagic) attacks may be useful, everything else is irrelevant.
  • Transmutation Scholar - Master Transmuter only works once, but Transmuter's Stone can help the Transmuter play keep away. Everything else is irrelevant.
  • War Mage - Tactical Wit works fine, but doesn't really help much given AMF is allowed to be cast before initiative. So long as the War Mage plays keep away, Arcane Deflection and Durable Magic work as intended. Everything else is irrelevant.
