Bloodstone Mage
First Post
I need some help, any help I can get. I'm running an Oriental Adventures campaign, and I need some adventure ideas really bad. Here's the basic info.
The continent (called Takeda) the PCs are on is divided into four regions. One is operated by a sea trading company (called the Daishi region), one is operated by a political council (Otomo), and the other two are operated by criminal syndicates (Shidehara and Kakihara). Takeda holds dragons as prestigeous figures that have fallen into the past, making them only regarded as mythological creatures by the majority of people (but still serving a sign of superiority).
According to legend, there lived a great warrior by the name of Kyoto about two thousand years ago in Takeda. Also in Takeda was an infamous dragon named Tsukade, who terrorized the peaceful folk across the land. Tsukade nearly destroyed everything. He defeated his brother, Kaigo, and levelled the City of Jade, a city reknown for its holy benevolence. Kyoto eventually confronted Tsukade after pursuing him for several years, and the fight that ensued supposedly lasted for three hundred nights. For destroying the City of Jade, a curse was placed upon all dragonkind ancestors of Tsukade must take human form for the rest of their lives, and their descendants will also take human form for the rest of their lives. The curse can only be broken if all of Kyoto's descendants perish and that the blood of the final descendant passes through the Saigo Valley (which is located in the middle of Takeda).
Kakihara and Shidehara are both being run by dragons opposing one another. Both dragons are descendants of Tsukade. Shidehara controls the region in which the Saigo Valley is located in. Shidehara, however, is more cautious and hesitant in its endeavors. Kakihara is ruthless and impatient, and they also have more active members in their syndicate than Shidehara does.
The PCs, through some mishaps, find themselves together in the hands of some Kakihara members. They are given two choices; join, or die. The PCs are used to go hunt the ancestors of Kyoto under the Kakihara syndicate. Continual motivation in lucrative and reputable forms are added as incentives for cooperation.
Although this seems cheesey, but the leader of the Kakihara organization (Ryuichi Nobunaga) knows more than he's revealing. The PCs are actually descendants of Kyoto. Instead of having to use all of Kakihara's resources, Nobunaga has the PCs do the work for him, gaining their trust until he puts his plan in its final stage.
I would be very grateful for any advice, suggestions, or tidbits of information/opinions you would like to share.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!
