So....
I sit here before my computer with a tear in my eye. I'm not quite sure if its from watching Fraiser end or from reading (well, skimming) Dragon 320.
30 years. I dont think anyone else could have written a better Retropective on the history of D&D then Dragon Magazine could. I tried myself for a school paper years ago and my essay paled in comparison.
D&D was nearly a decade old when I was born, and was in its mid 20's when I became aquainted with it. Since I was 14 years old, D&D has been my keyhole into another world.
I discovered Dragon and Dungeon a little over a year ago. Oh sure I knew they existed before hand, but I didnt know much about the inside, nor cared. I purchased my first subscription a year ago. I have 1 issue left.
Paizo. You have your faults, all companies do, but I just wanna say that I'm very satisified with the Magazine. The articles, the comics, the rules, the stories. Its one incredible balance of game material that make my eyes light up everytime I see that telltale curved plastic in my mailbox.
I'm rambling. Heh. This issue could not have been more perfect. From all the nifty comments from writers and developers, to D&D in Pop culture, to Ed's story of how the Forgotten Realms began. Then...Dragons, Dragons, and more Dragons. :-D How can I forget those nifty dragonmarks i havnt figured out how to use just yet. :-D
Paizo. Thank you for continuing on the Legacy. Thanks for bringing D&D into my home, month after month with something new and intresting. I can always dig under a pile of books or a pile on me shelf, pull out a random issue from the last 12 months, and I know that i'll always find something new. Because I can never read through the magazine in one sitting. There is just so MUCH. (And for someone who read the first 4 harry potter books in less then a week, and book 5 in 2 days, thats saying something!).
I hope that you're still around 30 years from now Paizo. When D&D and myself can both be considered grandparents. I cant wait for the day to gift my kids with their own subscription.
