A Mummy Lord I sculpted

Gospog

First Post
Used a Reaper armature as the base, and it took about two weeks.

I'm not thrilled with the paint job, but I need him for a game on Wednesday, so I'll go back and touch it up after that.

Cool! I like the gems, and the way you added the copper tubing. You're really talented at this.

Tom, can you shrink the photos more next time? Setting the longest dimension at about 600 pixels usually is a good balance between size and clarity.

Thanks, amigo.

PC,

Thanks! Those tubes are actually guitar strings. I'm glad you like it.
(wait till you see it in person!)

And I will adhere to those dimensions on my next picture post.

alsih2o,

Glad you like it as well. I am working on a few new projects that I'm hoping to post by next month.

You ain't seen nothing yet! ;)

That is quite impressive; good work.

On a related note, I'm a longtime painter and am very interested in trying my hand at sculpting. Its a very intimidating prospect, though, and I have no idea where to start. Are there any webpages or articles that you could refer me to for a beginner's tutorial?

go to Reapermini.com

buy the basic armatures.

buy the kneadite (I have found Reaper plus postage and handling to be about the same as the effort of finding a store)

get some tools that you like. I use a bit of wood with a pin in it (got it from an art store - prolly even has a name)

then add a little. sculpt a little. repeat.

thats if you want to do something from scratch to start with (don't)

start with an existing minature. Convert it. Play with the kneadite/green stuff (what GW calls it) and learn the substance.

I have made a fair number now. just wish I had a digicam of quality.
