A Proposal to Ban Specious Polls

It's very aggrivating to me to see a poll like this one about magic rings. The poster has self-servingly worded the available options specifically to skew two of the choices as being tatamount to admissions of dumbness (and thus making the remaining option the "correct" choice). The options could have been limited to "yes", "no", and "I don't care", but instead of a poll that's objective and informative, we get stuck with one of highly specious value.

This strikes me as an abuse of the tools provided by ENWorld, and lends itself to a veiled form of trolling. I wish to propose that those who initiate polls be charged with presenting their poll options in a neutral voice. Keep the options concise, and avoid attaching any extraneous arguements or rationales with those options. That's what posting is for.

I agree, that poll in particular is definitely troll-like.

I wouldn't cry is ENW did away with polls all together. I don't think they really add anything to a discussion, or to the boards.

I disagree. I find polls useful in learning about the general ENWorld population, its tastes, etc., and trying to relate such with my own experience in our local community - and there's often a huge difference! :) Sometimes I'm quite surprised at the results, too (e.g. the recent gold-standard-vs.-silver-standard poll).
